The RIVER CITY JAZZ
ORCHESTRA is a non-profit corporation composed of 18 musicians and 1
vocalist committed to presenting Live Big Band Music. The RIVER CITY
JAZZ ORCHESTRA focuses on playing a large variety of jazz tunes
including Basie, Ellington, Foster, Kenton, Miller, Nestico and many
more. The RIVER CITY JAZZ ORCHESTRA plays everything from hot up-tempo
charts, sensitively treated ballads, show tunes, classic dance tunes and
modern titles.
As New Orleans and Jazz are synonymous, we ask
all jazz fans to turn out and support this tremendous need. Free will
donations will be accepted that evening and presented to the RED CROSS
for relief needs resulting from Hurricane Katrina.

RCJO ADDS VOCALIST

December of 2003, the band adds permanent female singer to their

On Sunday, April 22nd at 11 pm,
and on Saturday, April 28th at 5 pm of 2001 RCJO was
featured on our local jazz radio station.
KBEM FM Jazz Radio's Jerry Swanberg, featured the Big Bands
of O'Gara's!
You can tune to 88.5 FM's "Big Band Scene",
with Jerry Swanberg, every Saturday afternoon at 5 pm, or on Sundays at
11 pm, to hear about many local big bands from all over our local area.
If you are not in town, you may "tune" to the
station on your computer! All you need do is go to www.jazz88fm.com
and click on the "Listen" button on the bottom of the Radio graphic BEFORE
the air date and time, because you will need to download and install a
very small audio streaming web browser helper program application, which will
enable your browser to let you listen to live streaming audio over the
internet.
Then at any time, you will be able to go to the same web
address, click on the Radio graphic's "listen" button, and you will
hear all of Jazz88 FM's live shows.
The April 22nd, and 28th shows featured the Cedar
Avenue Big Band, Beasley's Big Band, Stan Bann Big Band, Twin Cities jazz
Orchestra, Nova Jazz Orchestra, and, last but not least, River City Jazz
Orchestra.
You may also be interested in listening to Monday Evening
Jazz. This show features a great mix of contemporary jazz artists each and
every Monday night. This is a particular favorite of this web master, so
give it a try! Monday Evening jazz begins at 7 pm central time and
always has truly great recordings!
